best books + rad recs //
i don’t know about you, but even as a very single and very-anti-valentine’s day person, there’s something about all the love, hearts, and commercially-crafted romance in the air this time of year that makes me want to read something with a happily ever after.
out of the 86 books i’ve read so far this year, 25 snagged five star ratings, and these 12 are my favorites of those! the best of the best of the year, if you will.
there’s just something about escaping reality with unrealistic meet cutes and fantastic flirtations and steamy scenes that i just can’t get enough of, and with valentine’s day around the corner, it felt like the perfect time to round up some of my most favorite romances!
and now, as the year wraps up, i’m sharing my favorites of both fiction and nonfiction. i’m not the best at picking favorites, so i’m wrapping up 10 for each!
Now that we’re past the halfway point of 2022, I’ve rounded up my 12 favorite reads of the year so far (in no particular order).
Out of the (nearly) 200 books I read in 2021, these are the ones that were my favorites. I really don’t give out five star ratings frivolously, so these are books that I truly loved (but for all different reasons).
We are thick into spooky season, especially with Halloween right around the corner, and I rounded up 15 of the best mysteries and thrillers I’ve read. All of these were four or five star favorites for me, meaning I either really liked them, or totally loved them. (The five star reads are the first five listed!)
It’s officially (a little more than) halfway through 2021, and I have read 95 books so far, with 22 of them rating 5-stars! I rounded up my halfway top 12 books (I know the trend is to pick 10, but that was too hard!) — all were 5-star favorites, all are books I highly recommend, and hopefully they reflect diverse reading options and authors, too!
Whether you’re trying to crush your reading goal for the year or you just want to feel the satisfaction of finishing a book quickly, these reads are all under 200 pages to help you make it cover to cover without too much effort.
I read far too much and enjoy far too many books to pick ONE favorite. I can’t even pick one favorite from this year alone! So, I picked 12. (This was hard enough! I gave 33 books five stars, after all!)
Out of the 220+ books I read in 2020, only 33 earned a five-star review from me! That might seem high (or low) to you, but it feels just right to me— five-star reads are the truly AMAZING ones to me, and I stand by each one of these books deserving that rating.
Parents can be tricky to shop for— what do you give the people who raised you, or joined your family, or helped form who you are today? What books will help spark conversation, or give them a bit of an escape, or just be fun for them to read?
I feel like in 2020 you could probably say we all are homebodies… but these books are especially perfect for gifting to the ones who love being snuggled up at home, who find enjoyment in making a house feel warm and welcoming, for the ones who know how to properly pronounce “hygge” because they live it out.
Whether you’re trying to crush your reading goal for the year or you just want to feel the satisfaction of finishing a book quickly, these reads are all under 200 pages to help you make it cover to cover without too much effort.
I cannot encourage and urge you enough to listen to people of color, to learn from them (without asking them to do the work for you!!!), to follow as they lead (instead of thinking you know better), to believe their stories and their perspectives, to trust their wisdom, and to join alongside them.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I wanted to share resources that have been helpful in my own journey toward a healthier brain/soul/spirit/self/life.
Happy Galentine’s Day, gals! And happy Valentine’s Day to you all! Whether you’re celebrating the love of girlfriends or best friends or your significant other or yourself or God or words or WHATEVER, I hope you have a truly wonderful and love-filled weekend.
My prayer is that these books would be resources to aid those in their own journeys, whatever they might look like. For anyone who has gone through abuse of any kind, know that you are deeply loved, that you are not alone, and that God is with you, making all things new.
Christmas is FAST approaching but thankfully, Amazon Prime can still come in clutch if you need a gift for someone in your life. Hopefully this post helps you find a book that fits the interests of your people (or yourself!) — books are great and meaningful gifts and you can’t go wrong with these.
I rounded up 12 of the very best books I read this year. Don’t you dare ask me which one is my favorite! Don’t even ask me to rank them in order! It was hard enough to narrow the list down to 12 when I had more than 20 that got 5-star ratings from me.
It’s such a sweet time of the year, and these books (for some reason or another) bring to mind those autumnal feelings for me! They’d make for great reading over the next few months and I’ve personally loved each one.
These are books I highly recommend, thoroughly enjoyed, and want everyone else to read, too. And, they are ALL written by WOMEN.
There are books that are perfect for people of all kinds, no matter what they’re into or loving these days, and I hope the following selections help get you started!
I wanted to share a variety of books that have been helpful for me in my mental health journey. Not all are specifically about depression or meant for those battling depression, but all have been uplifting to me in this season.
These are the books I read this year that I can't stop thinking about, keep recommending, and wish I could read again for the first time.
This year, I'm sharing favorites I read this year (not necessarily published this year!) in a variety of my favorite genres and categories!
I'm one of those people who reads good books and then wants EVERYONE ELSE to read them SAP. So... I've rounded up the best books for gifts this Christmas for you and all the different kinds of people in your life!
may these resources be helpful guides along this lenten season as we remove a distraction to better create space for Christ in our lives and in our hearts.
